He's been to wars, seen many battles,
Watched friend and foe rip each other apart.
His superiors preach honor in death for his country,
But never speak of the killing done on his part.

He takes the blame for an order he was given,
With the blood of someone else's son dry on his hands.
The war itself has been over for years,
In his mind and soul that war never ends.

He is a soldier, his name is forgotten.
With the scars from his trials he can never part.
They consider him heartless for his deeds and actions,

My shoes have worn out long ago.
A lost road somewhere in my mind,
Where my feet carry me I do not know.

The scars that I cannot conceal,
Their lessons carved deep into me.
The pain and joy I used to feel,
Without them I cannot feel free.

A consequence of joy I could not see.
Who knows no suffering cannot know love,
Not knowing love one can't be free.

Haunted by the shadow at my side,

Personaly: I think that the whole think is a fraud, with the U.S. trying to further colonize the rest of the world while getting their hands on a shit load of oil (AKA hiting 2 birds with one stone).

I'm just curoiuse about people's opinion on the war. It seems so many people are against it, and at the same time for it...
